CUNY’s IRG Grant (up to $45k; deadline on 11/20/2023)

As a reminder, the CUNY Interdisciplinary Research Grant (IRG) Application Deadline is November 20, 2023 (9:00 am EST). This will be a great opportunity to scale up your oral history project with funding.

Interdisciplinary Research Grant (IRG; https://www.cuny.edu/research/research-development-programs/faculty-programs/internal-funding/interdisciplinary-research-grant-program/): This grant program will support collaborative research in the following significant areas: human health, environmental change, artificial intelligence, migration, and ever-changing social organization. Proposals should be interdisciplinary and address urgent scientific and societal challenges through convergent research (transdisciplinary research with societal impact). The program will fund projects that join expertise across disciplines and stipulate a clear path to new external funding.

  • A minimum of two investigators are required: one PI and one Co-PI, ideally from another CUNY college, school, and/or center. Multi-PI teams are encouraged.
  • Budgets must not exceed $45,000.
  • IRG submissions require a signature page, which requires a campus endorsement signature (ex. chair, dean) and a college Grants Officer signature from each participating institution.
  • RFP for the 2024 Interdisciplinary Research Grant: Engaged Public Impact Research in Urban Environments

If you would like the grants team to review your proposal before you submit and provide recommendations for revision, please share your proposal materials at least two weeks prior to the deadline. This timeline allows us to provide a comprehensive review of your proposal, including checking the budget for compliance with the application guidelines and CUNY requirements, and also allows for you (the PI) to make any necessary changes before the submission deadline.
